Infrastructure works

Because of the fact that certain parts have not yet been received, but also because of the lump sum of my loyal help / navigator for this weekend, I decided to carry out some infrastructure works in the R-Box basement. I am fully aware that this news item is of no value to most visitors to our site but it is rather in my own interest to show that I worked my own this weekend 🙂 To be honest, I must confess that my father took care of the paintings otherwise I would never have finished it so quickly, for which I am grateful!

With this so some completely useless photos

Pilot almost loses a piece of his legs …

Together with Luc we spent a full day measuring and fitting to get the pedal box in place. At first it was suggested to have a piece of my legs surgically removed but fortunately I was able to turn the tide and we decided to make 3 round cut-outs in the bulkhead so that it is now possible to move the pedals if the brake cylinders used (compact or the long version) and still keep my full leg length.

Some big changes …suspension changed

Our Intrax suspension is for sale at the moment !

After some sleepless nights we decided to forget about the limited budget and to go for the full group A uprights and triangles. We keep on collaborating with Intrax and are going to use the same shock absorbers but with another housing.

Not much updates on the BMW itself but we spent some time thinking about the engine, suspension en the steering. Lots of parts are ordered , this means that there will be some updates in the near future..

To be continued…

The “cage monkey” retires

The M3 body has entered the next phase. The welding work on the cage has been done. Today we have compiled our photo file and everything has been sent to Custom Cages to obtain our certification. The welding samples (on which tensile tests are done) had already been sent a while ago.

1000x thanks to Carl who sometimes had to wrestle himself into very uncomfortable corners to weld everything down to the last detail! Even though some places seemed unreachable at first sight, he always managed to find a creative solution to expertly tie the tubes together.

Rear suspension

It took a while for another update, but we’re very busy at the moment.

Luckily work on the M3 progressed steadily.

The rear triangles sourced by Heli Racing are ready and waiting to be built in. To get an idea of the final result we already mounted a brake disk and caliper.
