A critical point for the S14 engine, the cooling …

For the radiator we initially tried to find our salvation in something that exists but for 1 reason or another it turned out not to fit. Both the Mitsu and Subaru radiators are a few cm’s too big. The Sierra Cosworth radiator came closest in terms of width but is then a bit too low so that you also lose cooling capacity there.

Gear box cooler

It took us some time to find the right place to mount the oil cooler for the gear box.

We didn’t want the cooler to be trepanned by little stones or other projectiles so we were thinking about placing it at the back of the seats.

Ergonomics..

Since we didn’t like the looks of the bottom of the Sadev gear lever we decided to adjust this. We also wanted to place the hand brake somewhere near the gear lever so the pilot didn’t need to buy longer arms.

Sadev supports

For the Sadev gearbox we are going to make a custom silent block with 2 (round) T shaped rubbers that are fixed with 2 aluminium side flanges. (these are simular to the engine supports) These silentblocks will be put in a round Chromoly tube that will be welded on the chassis. A L shaped shackle on this construction is going to allow us to align the gear box.

Rear diff support

Because we are going to use a big 210 diff we were forced to modify the support area. A 210 diff is about 3cm longer then the original 188 diff which means that the lid cannot be mounted because part of the frame is in the way.

We modified the frame as you can see in the pictures…
