The Exhaust project

For the exhaust we made 4 small plates with M8 bolts, welded on the bottom of the car. We are going to screw supports with powerflex rubbers on these plates. We are also going to add some cables around the exhaust pipe so it can’t get lost during the stages when the rubbers fail..

Inspiration sought …

Currently, the R-Box BMW is at Intrax to make the suspension. This means that we are gradually approaching the final phase and that we will have to determine the color and especially the layout. Usually we have enough inspiration but here we are with our hands in our hair. The basic color will more than likely be white and the intention is to incorporate red and black in it. (see our logo) But what it should look like in the end…, we actually have no idea yet. If someone has a lot of inspiration and / or is very creative graphically, you can of course always offer tips, suggestions,… report.

Even if you have a totally different idea of colors, even that we want to consider.

Furthermore, we can mention that the rims are golden, everything else is still fully open.

Thanks in advance …

Too fast …..too furious ?

Something to remember…

A few posts ago we were very excited about our new Revolution Millenium wheels.

We considered this as “the best buy” but we miscalculated the needed space for the brakes.

Nick simulated everything in 3D and the outcome was that we had 7 mm space between the rim and the brake caliper. So far so good but ….we based ourselves on the Compomotive dimensions. We did not have the Revolution Millenium drawings.

We checked the dimensions but not professionally enough…we used a simple measuring tape.

After a thorough study we discovered that the Millenium’s become less in diametre going from the inside to the outside (spokes) of the wheel. This means that the hoped 7 mm space is in reality 0 !!

So we had 2 options : buy smaller (front) brakes or change the wheels !

A quick calculation learned us that changing the wheels would cost us the least…

The Revolutions were sold and Compomotives where ordered.

The happy ending is that we liked the Compomotives better from the start but our mind said no…now we have the choice of our heart !

Remember Patrick Snijers in the Manx (You tube) using compomotives !

Some PICS of the MO1783’s.

Our convertible gets a hardtop…

We transported the R-Box beemer to “De Carrossier” in Turnhout. Marc and his team are going to put the roof on the M3. We changed a sun roof plate for a non sun roof version.

Besides the esthetical gain we could lower the center of gravity by loosing the open roof casing.

It also enables the driver and the co to put on their helmets…

The body being a convertible for a time was also very useful to weld the cage.

The trolley has been adapted to take trips with the body on the trailer. We need to go to other places as well (without any wheels!) to get the puzzle complete.

More pics to follow … probably from september 17 on…
